The NEET UG 2025 results show interesting trends across India’s states and union territories. Out of 22.7 lakh students who took the exam, 12,36,531 qualified.

This data highlights where most medical aspirants are and how each region performed in this highly competitive test.

The Big Picture

NEET is the main entrance exam for undergraduate medical courses, such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, and BSc Nursing, in both government and private colleges in India.

Each year, more students take the exam, making it one of the toughest entrance tests worldwide.

The 2025 results from the National Testing Agency (NTA) provide a detailed breakdown of how many students qualified in each state and union territory.

Top Performing States

Uttar Pradesh leads in NEET qualifiers, with 1,70,684 students passing in 2025. It holds the top spot by a wide margin. The state’s large population, more coaching centers, and greater awareness of medical careers have helped it stay ahead.

Maharashtra and Rajasthan come next, with 1,25,727 and 1,19,865 qualifiers. Rajasthan stands out with a high qualification rate of 67.99%, one of the best in India. Kota, known for its coaching centers, has played a big role in these results.

Karnataka and Bihar complete the top five, with 83,582 and 80,954 qualifiers. Bihar’s results are especially notable, showing improvement from last year and better access to good education and preparation in the state.

Southern States and Their Strong Showing

Southern states make up a large share of NEET qualifiers. Tamil Nadu had 76,181, Kerala 73,328, and Telangana 41,584 students who qualified. Andhra Pradesh added 36,776 more to the southern total.

Kerala’s high literacy rate and strong schools help explain its strong NEET results, especially given its focus on science education.

Tamil Nadu, despite ongoing debates about NEET’s fairness to state board students, still produces many qualifiers.

Mid-Tier States Holding Steady

Several mid-sized states also have strong results. Madhya Pradesh had 60,346 qualifiers, West Bengal 59,018, and Gujarat 50,040.

Delhi, though a union territory, had 40,331 qualifiers, underscoring its status as an education hub with strong coaching and resources.

Haryana had 35,592 qualifiers, and Odisha had 31,673. Jharkhand (19,203), Assam (19,809), and Chhattisgarh (22,261) are also making their mark in the national medical entrance scene.

Smaller States and Union Territories

Smaller states and union territories have fewer qualifiers, but their numbers are impressive for their population sizes. Manipur had 6,116 qualifiers, Arunachal Pradesh 2,645, and Puducherry 2,639.

Chandigarh, with a small population, had 1,816 qualifiers, indicating a high per capita success rate.

Daman and Diu (318) and Lakshadweep (154) are at the lower end for qualifiers. These numbers are due to their small populations, not a lack of ambition among students.

What the Data Tells Us

Some clear patterns stand out in this state-wise data. States with big populations, strong coaching centers, and good schools have the most NEET qualifiers.

But smaller states and union territories often do very well when you look at per-capita qualifiers.

More students from states like Bihar, Haryana, Manipur, and Ladakh are taking the NEET, indicating that awareness of medical education is spreading across India.

As coaching centers and online learning reach smaller towns and cities, NEET qualifiers are likely to be more evenly spread in the future.

The NEET 2025 data ultimately reflect not only academic achievement but also the hopes of millions of young Indians who view medicine as a meaningful and respected career.
